General Rules:

1. STAY RESPECTFUL. This is a group about role playing cats, no arguments over politics

2. Tying into staying respectful, but no slurs are to be used ever. Not in character, and especially out of character.

3. Stay as active as possible. Our lives are important but don't join if you don't have time! If you need to take a break from the group please make us aware. Real-life is more important than a fantasy cat role play.

4. No Godmodding! You cannot decide to kill off another person's character. They get to decide if their character is wounded in a fight.

5. NSFW is not allowed. While making small jokes is fine "wow so hot she could step on me" nothing explicit, please!

6. If a problem occurs, of any kind, please bring it to a mod. We will help you the best we can.

7. Have fun! Feel free to leave suggestions in our discord once you join!!

8. Keep everything on topic! Please do your best to use the appropriate channels.

Character Creation:

1. The topic of mental illnesses, disorders, etc should be handled very respectfully. You cannot however, give your character any severe illnesses such as psychotic disorders, DID, etc without talking to a mod first.

2. Special traits such as mutations are to be bought with points! You must have a nice normal cat before you can have an albino 3 legged cat!

3. Please keep designs semi-realistic! No neon or unrealistic colors, or extremely unnatural markings like hearts/stars/tattoos/etc. All eye colors except rainbow are accepted. Heterochromia is a purchasable trait from the shop. Pink/red should be for albinos only. All pelt/ear/tail types are free traits, such folded ears, or a bobtail, as long as it either fits the cat breed or has a reason behind it.

4. Any and all major plots must be discussed with the mods first. You can ping any mod and/or admin and DM them if you would like to discuss it!

5. You are only allowed a maximum of 2 characters. You must buy extra slots!  On that note, you must also buy to age/rank up your character, from kit to apprentice, apprentice to warrior, med apprentice, to med cat.

6. While role playing characters in different clans are allowed, we strongly advise you to not take on more than you can handle. The roleplay may get slow but that doesn’t mean to kill off or abandon your character.

7. Minor gore is allowed, as long as it is not heavily detailed and is tagged correctly. With art on DA and RP on Discord.

8. If your character has a forbidden relationship you may attempt to change clans but it is up for the clan leader to accept or not.

9. PLEASE CHECK allegiance if a Name has been taken! We allow 3 cats to have the same prefix, but none that are the same in a clan.

10. You may only join as a kit if they are from an already existing pair in the group, or if you have purchased an abandoned kit perk from the shop.

11. Joining apprentices must be 8 moons or younger.

12. Everybody wants an original warrior name, but do not go too crazy. Do your best to keep a name normal-ish for the warrior world. Also remember the setting is a desert, names relating to it are common! Unrealistic names or words cats would not know will need to be approved by an admin or will be asked to change.

13. Cats cannot have the prefixes star/cliff/buzzard/coyote.

14. Exiled/banished/loner/rogue/kittypet cats and Half-clan/Forbidden/cross-clan relationships are perks only available through purchase from the shop.

The Spirits

This is not the soft Starclan of the forest cats, no the dead cats of mesa shadows are known to the clans as Spirits and divided into two groups that wander the cave labyrinth and the open desert; Whispers and Howlers. Echos and weird cave sounds are often thought of as the dead “whispering” to the living, and besides medicine cats, it is believed that Coyoteclan cats are best at understanding the “whispering.” However, sometimes much louder sounds echo through the labyrinth, and these rare occurrences are often seen as incredibly bad omens.

"When the wild dogs howl at the night sky, it is said that it is those dark spirits claiming their minds to curse the whispers that reside in the moon’s gentle grace while they are forced to remain forever wandering the burning sands"

The opposite of the Whispers are Howlers, dark spirits that were not welcome in the moon’s gentle light, and have been cursed to forever wander under the sun’s unforgiving heat. These spirits are named after their loud nature, never quiet and subdued, but rather always cursing the moon and fighting to return to the living and have their vengeance on those they believe have forgotten or wronged them. So it is often believed that old or sickly cats that yowl loudly, often, and without reason are thought to be fighting with a Howler that is trying to take their body from them so that they may return to the living to wreak havoc on the clans as they did in life. Each clan handles these cases differently, though not many have ended well.

Cliffclan

Daring and fearless cliff stalkers and sky watchers. Cliffclan lives in the second harshest terrain, though to them there is no better place to live than the desert treacherous cliffs. They know how to reach impossible heights and squeeze into the smallest crevices. Cliffclan believes themselves to be closest to the stars, and take pride in their ability to get wherever they need to go, no matter the terrain. Even the youngest kits are confident in their climbing abilities and believe they could best even the most experienced Buzzardclan warrior in a race to reach a tall rocky outcrop. While their strong bodied rivals are known from their unmatched constitution and resolve, Cliffclan prides themselves on the lithe forms and sure footedness. After all, what kind of sand cat has that kind of thickness?

- Their main source of prey is snakes, small birds, and rodents.

- There are a few scattered shallow pools found throughout the territory.

- Cliffclan has no preference for how they handle their dead, and often leave it up to the surviving family members.

Buzzardclan

Desert roamers and believed descendants of sand cats. It is thanks to their ancestors' blood that these courageous and brave cats can call the territory they live in home. Buzzardclan is known to have the strongest cats out of the three clans, but also has the least amount of cats due to their territory's harsh terrain. More often than not the cats found in this clan have coats with desert colors, so that they may better blend in with their minimal surroundings. Only the strong can survive here, and the stronger the cat, the more it is believed that they have closer ties to their sand cat ancestors. These beliefs and their small numbers are often subject to jabs and jokes by the wily Cliffclan, which never ceases to feed their ongoing feud.

- Their main source of prey is fish, snakes, birds, and the occasional rodent.

- Their territory is the only one that’s river never completely dries up, and it is here that the cats both fish and get their main source of water.

- Buzzard is the only clan that either buries most of their dead or leaves them out for the other desert animals, only making the journey to the moon cave for honored clan members.

Coyoteclan

The cave dwellers and protectors of the departed. Known for being smart and witty, as well as adept navigators and diplomats. It is said that Coyoteclan is closest to the spirits thanks to their hilly territory being riddled with many caves where the moon cave is located, and where the spirits wander. Their camp is found among these caves, where cats of all coats and sizes hunt the labyrinth and surrounding hills. The most noteworthy thing about Coyoteclan however, is how it is said that they know how to interpret the whisperings in the caves, as well as the difference between a howler and something natural.

- Their main source of prey is fish, bats, rodents, and birds.

- Coyoteclan does not bury any of their dead, but instead “returns” them to the moon cave or leaves them out for the other desert creatures.

- They are taught to navigate the labyrinth from a young age so that they don’t get lost, can find their way to and from the cavern pools, and don’t become tempted into the dark by Howlers.
